5 things I’m thankful for

Ok y’all, I think I’m ready to part with my gratitude. Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Well aren’t you adorable with your base-level tardy appreciation?” And I’m like, firstly, thanks for calling me adorable. I ate about 17 pounds of food last night (for FREEDOM), so that compliment doesn’t go unnoticed.

Secondly, I was holding onto my gratitude because all the basic bitches shared on Thanksgiving, and I was pulling the equivalent of sneaking into the back of the class with the cool kids. I planned to copy the nerds’ notes so I could turn around and slay it on the final exam.

So, without further ado, here’s what I’m thankful for this year:

  1. That kid who called me a “MILF!” a few days ago. Sometimes you just need validation from a little Irish middle schooler who feels confident enough to shout dated references at a child-less woman-child. Made my Tuesday.

Netflix, for not trying to integrate a social component into their viewing, à la Spotify. I don’t need to be publicly outed for watching Pretty Little Liars, and they get that. Meanwhile, Spotify is all, “She just listened to Ja Rule, lynch her!” and I loathe them for that.

  3. Sriracha, for being the spicy companion to my eggs. They experimented with other hot sauces in the past, but they committed to that crimson beauty this year, and I, for one, could not be happier

    for them.

  4. Facebook memories, for reminding me that even though I’ve moved far away, it’s important to make an effort to maintain relationships with people from my past. Also, a lot of people who used to write on my wall stuff like ,”hey grl ware u at? Cum 2 ma show 2nite” have since defriended me. I’m so very thankful for that.
  5. A husband who makes the coffee. Try as I might, I royally eff up the ratio of coffee beans to water every.damn.time. He always nails it. This is why we’re married.

Oh, also, I’m grateful for my lovely family, my family 2.0 (AKA my in-laws), my incredible, fascinating friends all over the world, the ability to travel the world with relative ease, the chance to pursue my dreams as a writer, and homemade cookies.

Happy (day after) Thanksgiving, everyone!
